Finca Monte Alto is operated by Café Directo, a family business founded by Gerardo and Jennifer Arias. With over 30 years of experience, they produce high-quality Tarrazú coffees using a range of processing methods, with a focus on sustainability and fair trade. The farm’s altitude, soil, and microclimate support varieties such as Catuai, Pacamara, and Gesha. For this lot, carefully selected cherries are pre-dried, then undergo controlled anaerobic fermentation before drying on raised beds for around 30 days. Costa Rica’s coffee history dates back to 1779, becoming a key export by the mid-19th century and led the way for third wave coffee internationally.
