Ronald Jesús Castaño Holguín is a fourth-generation producer from Colombia - who grew up spending school holidays picking coffee with family and friends. For his graduation project, he chose coffee and planted his first Geisha trees. The farm, La Sonora, sits at 1,700 masl, a gift from his older brother who recognised Ronald's devotion to the craft. It's a living, breathing place - Geisha trees, avocado, guava, walnut and three natural water springs, all coexisting across 8 hectares. This coffee is processed using an anaerobic honey method, the result is a floral, effervescent cup with remarkable clarity. Bergamot, cherry blossom and sage - delicate but defined. Ronald is 21. Young people learning this craft, let alone mastering it, are increasingly rare - and that's exactly why this coffee matters. He placed 2nd in an extensive week of cuppings. Exceptional quality, grown by the next generation. This is what the future of coffee looks like.
