Abdo Aba Mecha - EA Decaf - Education Lot - 2025

This decaf Education Lot is a blend of washed and natural processed lots from the 30 hectare estate of producer Abdo Aba Mecha. Abdo began working with our import partners at Osito back in 2023, around the same time that we featured a natural processed lot from one of Abdo’s neighbors, Nesru Abanura. This area, in Ethiopia’s western Jimma Zone, is close to many of of the producers we work closely with for our Agaro Foundational partnership, so we’ve been delighted to see it continue to develop as a hub for talented, quality-driven producers. We selected this lot as a candidate for the Education Lot menu because it reflects the impact of three distinct processing methods: washed processing, natural processing, and Ethyl Acetate decaffeination. The result is surprisingly well structured, balanced, and sweet, featuring flavors of fresh pear, plum, and lemongrass, amidst a base of sweet malted chocolate.
