Coffee
LOT 20 (Orange co-ferment)
18 GBP
Lot20 is a coffee from Kenya, co-fermented with orange pulp. It's unusual but perfect for the hot weather! For those unfamiliar, co-fermentation involves sealing the coffee cherries (that's the skin, pulp, seeds, and everything!) in an airtight 'anaerobic' chamber for anywhere between 12 to 100 hours. During this time, the sugars in the fruit interact with a buildup of lactic acid, which develops sweet and fruity flavours in coffee. For this coffee specifically 'co-fermenting', orange pulp is added to this tank alongside the coffee cherries, to impart its citric acidity and bright fruity flavours. The upshot of this, is that the coffee brewed tastes like a cup of intensely juicy Tropicana. Kenyan coffee is already notoriously sweet, meaning that the limited run of this coffee we have is not to be missed!
