Kurasu was founded in 2013 by Yozo Otsuki, operating a roastery in Kyoto's Nishijin district, with Ayaka Oki joining as director in 2022. The company opened its Kyoto stand in 2016 and later expanded with stores in Singapore (2017) and Bangkok (2019), alongside a partner-roaster subscription launched in 2015.
