A specialty roaster worth knowing
Origin Roasting
Cape Town, South Africa · 5 coffees

One of the original third-wave roasteries in South Africa, founded by Joel Singer in 2006 in De Waterkant. Origin's roastery-café on Hudson Street built much of Cape Town's specialty coffee literacy and trained a generation of baristas now scattered across the city. Direct-trade single-origins from Ethiopia, Burundi and Colombia anchor the menu, alongside signature blends like Sumatran Sunday. The roastery still operates as a destination café — green coffee silos visible behind the bar.
