Seven Fortunes Coffee Roasters was founded in March 2015 by Karim Hassan, a then-22-year-old Egyptian entrepreneur based in Dubai, starting as a side project alongside his day job. The name references Sufi trader Baba Budan's legendary smuggling of seven coffee seeds to India, and the roastery now supplies roughly 100 cafes, hotels and restaurants across the region.
