Founded on 1 April 1942 by Harold Rees Higgins and his 16-year-old daughter Audrey, with a hand-cranked 7lb roaster on South Molton Street. Bought direct from farmers from 1960, held a Royal Warrant from 1979 and a King's Warrant from 2025. The Mayfair shop and basement coffee lounge is on Duke Street; roasting moved to a purpose-built site near Whitby in 2020.
