Opened on Connaught Street near Marble Arch in 1957 by George and Eva Markus, who had run a coffee house in Budapest before fleeing Hungary in 1956. The shop passed to its current owner in 1976 and still roasts on the premises every day, delivering within 24 hours of roasting. House blends, single origins and teas, ground to order over the counter.
