SISTERHOOD This blend celebrates the efforts of the women who cultivate coffee in the Huehuetenango region, and we’ve selected this coffee as a delicious entry-level option, ideal for espresso and especially enjoyable in milk-based drinks. In the cup, notes of chocolate and nuts combine with a fruity acidity, creating a balanced and smooth brew. About this coffee Sisterhood, is a popular regional blend from Huehuetenango specially sourced by primavera importers. Gender equity is a longstanding challenge for the coffee industry; women coffee growers have less access to land, credit, training, and basic education even as women make key contributions to plant care, harvest, and processing coffee. Research has shown that when women are empowered to make decisions, including financial decisions about their coffee farms, families and community are more successful and their needs are better met. They purchase 84 and 85 point coffees from women smallholder farmers in Huehuetenango each year to blend into a balanced, classic profile. Each unique lot has full transparency and is traceable to the farm level. Processing This lot is a blend of the Caturra and Catuai varieties, which are hand-harvested by women in the region and processed as washed coffee in each producer’s wet mill, and then sun-dried for several days on patios.
